Draft for attorney review

Draft Payments & Payouts Policy

Demo payments, Stripe Connect, platform fees, owner payouts, refunds, and chargebacks.

Not final legal terms

This document is a planning draft. It should be reviewed, revised, and approved by qualified counsel before TrustStay uses it as public legal policy.

Purpose

Prepare payment language before switching from demo/test payment flows to live production payments.

Attorney focus

Confirm Stripe Connect platform type and responsibilities.
Confirm fee, tax, refund, chargeback, and payout timing language.
Confirm whether TrustStay is merchant of record, marketplace, limited payment collection agent, or another model.

Current demo and test modes

TrustStay supports demo bookings for product testing and Stripe test-mode flows for payment, refund, and connected-account testing. Demo payments and Stripe test-mode payments are not live production money movement and should not be described as final consumer payment terms.

Production payments

Production payments should be processed by Stripe or another approved payment provider only after final business, legal, tax, compliance, refund, chargeback, and support processes are approved. TrustStay should not store full card numbers, wallet credentials, bank login details, SSNs, ITINs, government ID images, or biometric identity data in the application database unless counsel approves a compliant process.

Owner payouts

Owners may need to complete Stripe Connect/business verification before receiving payouts.
Payouts may be delayed during guest review, refund review, chargebacks, fraud review, account moderation, payment-provider holds, or legal compliance checks.
TrustStay may require fresh turnover photos before a listing accepts another booking.

Fees, taxes, and chargebacks

Final policy should explain platform fees, payment processing fees, taxes, owner tax responsibility, refunds, partial refunds, chargebacks, payout reversals, and any non-refundable fees. Counsel should align this with Stripe’s terms and TrustStay’s final business model.

Review note

After counsel finalizes this document, update the matching public TrustStay policy page and keep this legal-review draft archived for launch records.
